William C. Zinn

Officer William C. Zinn was born in Cerro Gordo, Illinois. He married his wife, Anna Belle, in 1892 while still living in Illinois and working as a painter.
On February 13, 1923 Officer Zinn, 55, was fatally wounded as he attempted to arrest James H. Warner, who was in the act of holding up the Van Pelt drug store at 3401 East 12th Street. The suspect was shot and critically wounded during a struggle with the drug clerk. Officer Zinn died six days later.
Officer Zinn was survived by his wife, Anna Belle, and daughter Kendall.
